Hank’s range of professional experience within the pharmaceutical and diagnostic arena is comprehensive. Hank served as president and chief executive officer of two medical diagnostic companies, Ventana Medical Systems, Inc., in Tucson, Ariz., and Biostar, Inc., in Boulder, Colo. At Ventana, he presided over an organization that doubled its sales every year for the three years he was with them. His achievements at Biostar are equally impressive. While preparing the company for a public offering, Hank reduced expenses by $2 million annually, and pioneered worldwide growth, bringing sales from zero to more than $12 million annually.
Hank gained extensive experience in the 20 years he spent in various capacities at Abbott Laboratories in Chicago. He gained international experience as president of Abbott Japan. A highlight at Abbott was his work at TAP Pharmaceuticals, a joint venture between Abbott and Takeda Chemical Industries of Japan. In the 10 years he served as president and chief executive officer of TAP, Hank guided the creation of a world-class organization. Among his achievements there, he pioneered sales growth from $2 million to more than $600 million annually. He also created one of the most productive and professional sales organizations in the pharmaceutical industry as measured by customer surveys.
